Annual Alex Patterson & James McPhilemy Commemoration

A wreath laying ceremony will take place on 24th of September at 3pm at the West Tyrone INLA memorial in the Carlton Drive Est in Strabane.

Speakers at this years event are, Aisling McElroy & Orlaith Mcelroy main oration in Irish with English translation.

Roll of Honor will be read by Eoghan Mclaughlin followed by a speech from the Patterson family.

The event is to be chaired by Michael Mc Laughlin.

Aged 20,James McPhilemy from Strabane, a well known and liked young man, he was part of a three-man team when he was killed in action as he prepared to attack an army post at Clady, Co. Tyrone.

Alex Patterson, aged 31, and a father of four from Strabane, County Tyrone, was shot dead on 12 November 1990 by an SAS team who had staked out the house of an Ulster Defence Regiment member near Victoria Bridge outside Strabane.
