IRSP Call on Loyalist Leadership to not allow Sectarianism to Succeed Following Disgraceful Flag Incident

“The Irish Republic is entitled to, and hereby claims, the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman. The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past.” Poblacht na hÉireann.

Those who erected sectarian flags which glorify sectarian atrocity and near a school that witnessed the most awful excesses of sectarian bigotry and hate aim only to cause harm. They seek to harm relationships that have built between communities for decades as well as damage the image and standing of the people in their communities while disempowering them. They must not be permitted to succeed.

The Irish border is in the Irish sea because the Tories know that Unionism is reactionary and because it refuses to analyse or assess its own circumstances to secure it’s own needs, it can be used and it was used.

Terrorising children and creating division will not amend that nor will it diminish the Irish Nations speedy advance towards unity and the principles outlined above. We implore the leaders of loyalism not to be misled by the promises of Unionism as before. Carson cried; “What a fool I was. I was only a puppet, and so was Ulster, and so was Ireland, in the political game that was to get the Conservative Party into power.” Don’t be fools. We ask those responsible to take down the flags they have erected and rescue what little dignity they have left after another disgrace.
