The Irish Republican Socialist Party in Derry City congratulates the organisers and participants of the Foyle Pride Festival 2013 for the inclusive family friendly atmosphere they created and we welcome another greatly successful pride event in the City.
Dee Robson of Derry City IRSP continues “The Irish Republican Socialist Party sends solidarity greetings to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people on the occasion of the 2013 Foyle Pride Festival. Events like today’s are essential in destroying the existing negative social stereotype, created by the Catholic Church and Right-Wing reactionaries, that allows Homophobia to thrive on our Island. “
Mr Robson finishes “Since its inception the IRSP has supported equality for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender people beginning with the party’s first Ard Fheis in 1975, when it became the first political party in Ireland to support gay rights. The IRSP are very proud of our commitment to universal equality as laid out in the 1916 Proclamation we believe in guaranteeing civil and religious liberty’s, equal rights and equal opportunities and in cherishing all of the children of this nation equally. “
