The IRSP welcome the news that a motion was passed at last night’s Belfast City Council meeting that will on paper mean the Department For Communities will carry out a review of the fitness standard of housing.
Welcoming the news, IRSP representative for North Belfast Tarlach Mac Dhónaill has said, “Today I visited a number of homes in North Belfast who have complained about substandard and inhuman living conditions. The photos speak for themselves, this is not acceptable housing. I hope that this motion is quickly applied and is not just another long drawn out pen pushing exercise. These issues need urgently addressed and those responsible for this squalor need held to account.”
