The IRSP in Derry have welcomed plans by Fold Housing to put right ongoing maintenance issues at Rossnagalliagh and Rossnagalliagh Park.

The IRSP have been working closely with local residents for a number of months attempting to have these serious issues repaired. At a meeting today involving Fold, the IRSP and a number of residents a report by an independent auditor was given to local residents reinforcing the claims that there are serious damp and condensation issues with the properties on the estate.

Yvonne Barr of the IRSP said, “We have been working with the residents for a number of months now attempting to highlight some of the serious damp issues in their homes. We have carried out surveys of residents, held meetings and helped organise a petition from local residents on these issues. Thankfully this independent report verifies what residents have been telling us and Fold Housing have now taken the findings and said to us that they have the finance in place and that these issues will be put right between January and April 2014. We welcome this news and thank Fold Housing for coming to this conclusion. This will put residents at ease, at least they now know that their homes will be safe for their families to live in over the coming months and years. We also commend the local residents who have continued to highlight these issues and have continued to fight until they got the answers that they deserved.”
