IRSP attend & support Community Action Tenants Union (CATU) housing protest outside offices of Government Minister

The IRSP was happy to have supported tonight’s demonstration at the office of Paschal Donohoe in Glasnevin, Dublin. The demonstration was organised by the Community Action Tenants Union (CATU) and called for an extension on the ban of evictions until 2021 and the cancellation of arrears from the period of the ban.

The IRSP believes that having a home is the right of every person. The need for people to shelter and survive should not be monopolised for profit. The behaviour of landlords and mortgage lenders in Ireland has been a blight on the people of this country for long enough.

The unity of tenants and those exploited by this system provides an effective means to put an end to the heinous system of exploitation for good. We were glad to have offered solidarity and support to the organisers of tonight’s demonstration
