PSNI Threaten IRSP Activists in Belfast over Far Right Eviction in City Centre

Members of the PSNI visited a number of IRSP activists in Belfast threatening charges against members who attended a protest in the Summer against the far right in Belfast City Centre.

In July, IRSP activists joined by others evicted the racist far right; Irish Freedom Party from the Fountain Street area in the city as they were in the process of handing out racist leaflets to passers by. As our activists approached the stall, the IFP members fled and their stall and leaflets were subsequently dismantled.

This afternoon, the PSNI visited half a dozen members of the IRSP claiming to be the instigators and threatened them with charges while asking other members to give information on the action.

This is just the latest example of the PSNI assisting the far right, having also attempted to charge and fine organisers of a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest including our own members during the summer.

The IRSP are well used to such harrasment and threats, having experienced it for over 46 years and this latest pathetic attempt will not deter us from our revolutionary position and opposition to the Far Right.
