In tandem with the support demonstrated by the IRSP on the outside for Basque Hunger Striker Patxi Ruiz and his fellow political prisoners, I will be undertaking a 24-hour fast starting at 9AM on Thurdsay 21st May.
This is in solidarity with Patxi, who is on Hunger Strike for
- Humane treatment from the Spanish State and Prison authorities; 2: Repatriation of all Basque prisoners to the Basque Country and 3: A total amnesty and consequent freedom for all Basque political prisoners.
These are the legitimate demands of revolutionary prisoners being held by an oppressive state. It will not be lost on Republican Socialists that the actions of Patxi and other prisoners are taking place during the anniversary of the 1981 Hunger Strikes when 10 prisoners lost their lives in the H-Blocks. We feel their plight, and I send strength and solidarity to Patxi, his loved ones and his comrades!
