‘Yes for Unity’ the Republican Socialist campaign for an Irish Unity referendum are to host a public meeting in Belfast’s Culturlann around the merits of campaigning for a ‘Border Poll’ here.
The meeting entitled ‘A revolution of referendums’ will feature speakers from a range of likeminded European separatist organisations from Catalonia, Scotland and Britanny. Speaking are; Former Breton political prisoner Gael Roblin, Catalan independence activist and academic Ignasi Bernat, Donal Anderson of the Scottish Republican Socialist Movement, Ciarán Cunningham of the Irish Republican Socialist Party chaired by a YES For Unity representative.
The ‘Yes for Unity’ initiative exists to bring the debate around a Border Poll or Irish Unity referendum down to a street level where discussions around implications for working class people can occur away from the overt influence of mainstream political parties.
The initiative also seeks to provide a space for alternative republican and socialist voices to express fears as well as make suggestions as we enter into an era in which it appears that a vote on Irish Unity is fast becoming inevitable.
In response to what have been unprecedented levels of interest in the campaign ‘Yes for Unity’ are set to announce plans for a ‘Referendum Rally’ due to take place in 2019, details and plans will be outlined at the Culturlann meeting.
The public meeting will take place on Saturday 1st December, at 3 pm. An Culturlann, Falls Road Belfast. All are welcome to attend.
