IRSP Call on Sinn Féin to Snub the Coronation

IRSP representative for the Lower Falls Michael Kelly has called on Sinn Féin to listen to the community and snub the invitation to attend the so called Royal Coronation next month.

Michael has said, “We are hearing on the doors the concern expressed by people within our communities at the potential of Sinn Féin attending the “Royal Coronation” next month. Communities like the Lower Falls bore the brunt of British Imperialism in Ireland, it was these communities who fought and suffered at the hands of British Imperialism and it is these communities who put Sinn Féin where they are today electorally. We are asking for Sinn Féin to show respect for these communities and snub any invitation to attend.”

Mid Falls representative Dan Murphy has said, “Our communities are suffering daily due to the cost of living crisis. People are really struggling. Asides from the political argument against a monarchy, our political representatives need to send a message that spending £100 million, parading in billions of pounds worth of jewellery stolen from nations across the world is unacceptable in any society in 2023. Attending such an event is endorsing this behaviour and I would hope, Sinn Féin who electorally represent the working class people of West Belfast reject this nonsense by snubbing any invitation.”
